Have you used AI tools?

World leaders and tech CEOs are attending an AI summit in Paris today.

WORLD LEADERS AND tech heavyweights are in Paris for the second day of an artificial intelligence Summit, which aims to highlight the benefits of AI and find a common ground on the rapidly developing technology.

The Summit has been described as a first-of-its-kind gathering, with some likening it to an AI version of Climate COPs.

Last night, French President Emmanuel Macron went toe-to-toe with the US, pledging €109bn for investment in French AI over the next five years in a bid to keep Europe in the running for the tech’s hoped-for benefits.

So, today we want to know: Have you used AI tools?

Poll Results:

Yes, regularly (1674)
Wouldn't know where to start (1424)
Yes, out of curiosity (1213)
No, no interest (1154)

It’s probably used more than people realise. A huge amount of academic and research literature have been found to be written by AI. It’s also estimated over 50% of accounts you interact with online are entirely AI, which explains some of the wild things we read on the comments section here.

The company I work with has embraced AI so yes, it’s become a large part of my working life.

Every problem seems to have the question “could we use AI”?

@Tricia G28: All the better for companies if they don’t have any pesky human beings to pay wages to, I suppose…

Some programs and newspapers could benefit from AI. For example if people like Pat Kenny was replaced by open AI it would remove the risk of 100% anti Trump interviews. Unless a bias was applied to the interview AI selector.

That like saying ‘if people like Albert Einstein was replaced by open AI it would remove the risk of 100% anti Hitler interviews’

@John Murphy: Einstein used maths as a tool to formulate the various theories he developed.

The maths didn’t come up with his theories.

Don’t get me wrong as I think AI is great as well but I wouldn’t be denigrating Einstein’s work just because AI might be better at maths than him.

As an example I’ll be seriously imrpessed if AI manages to solve the Theory of Everything anytime soon.

I use AI regularly, but just for basic tasks. I design websites and have an interest in history, and I find AI to be a fantastic tool for both.
Anyone not using it should give it a shot, it’s a fantastic resource.

You will not be replaced by AI, but you could well be replaced by someone who makes good use of AI.

@Gerard Hayden: And that, right there, is what people should remember.

If you can’t learn to use it, there will be others that can.

@Gerard Hayden: AI will find you better employment. In reality it should eliminate jobs entirely but we all know that wont be allowed.

Used the AI man loads of times. I remember the confusion, especially amongst the older generation when the AI man started coming round. They couldn’t understand where he kept the bull.

There are dangers attached to the use of AI and the Tech Industry will not alert you to these dangers. The value of RESEARCH into Alzheimer’s/Dementia is already in the Public Domaine, its based on much earlier Research on the London Cabby and Brain development, prior to the development of Google Maps. The old adage, use it or lose it applies – the human brain needs stimulation and A.I. replaces needed stimulation and the implications are that an increased cohort of over 60s (estimated) will be mentally challenged, as a direct result of A.I.
