FUNDING HAS BEEN approved, totalling €3.2m, for the redevelopment of Conradh na Gaeilge’s headquarters in Dublin city centre.
The protected structure, said to be the former meeting place of generations of Republican movements and Gaeilge advocates in Dublin in the 20th century, is to be developed as a central hub for the Irish language in the capital city.
Hosting Raidió Rí-Rá, Oireachtas na Gaeilge, Conradh na Gaeilge and Club Conradh – a pub which requires you to use your cúpla focail to stay for a pint – the site on Harcourt Street is a hotspot for Gaeilgeoirí around Dublin.
Plans to re-open the site as a cultural hub, as well as the issuing of the grant, are in line with the Government’s national development plan. Permission has been approved for preliminary and planning work so that construction can begin following tenders in 2026.
The construction project will be overseen by the OPW, according to a statement. The announcement was made this evening at the Conradh na Gaeilge Ard Fheis in Wexford.
Minister for An Gaeltacht Dara Calleary has welcomed the funding approval as the headquarter provides a site for cultural facilities in Dublin. He said he hopes that the project will act as a blueprint for similar developments in other cities in Ireland.

I often read posts here about journal having weak stories and think what a bunch of moaners. But now seriously, journal you can’t publish an article about a ‘little known app like messenger’. Everyone uses messenger and there’s not much need for a tutorial on a news site
Always on the cutting edge of new technology eh journal? Not really.

Young persons of my acquaintance made me aware of this some time ago. However, since I’ve no interest in Facebook (or Facebook lite) the information wasn’t much use to me.
i use this in work and i also use whatsapp web which is also very good and also owned by Facebook
Being an auld one (in terms of tech) I hadn’t a clue what this was. So you’re going to get at least one thank you anyway for writing this article ;)

Firefox has an add on that disables your news feed. Very useful as the news feed had turned to crap with adverts and posts from people I don’t know and you can still post happy birthday to friends’ walls etc. Just no more stupid posts.
That would be all of them then.

Jeez I’m 68 and I’ve been using messenger to chat with almost all my acquaintances for a year now ! Little known ! Like Brennan’s Bread ! Of course you must have a Facebook account…. And real butter for the Brennan’s !
