The Daily PollIT’S ST PATRICK’S Day, and events are taking place across the country - and around the world – to mark the occasion.
Once a celebration of the patron saint of Ireland, Lá Fhéile Pádraig has also become a broader celebration of Ireland and Irish culture.
The main event of the day is the traditional Paddy’s Day parade, which ranges from the huge pageant that is the Dublin parade to the more local parades in towns and villages across the country.
Many will be heading out to celebrate the day, while others might prefer to settle down to watch the festivities on the telly.
So today we’re asking: Will you attend a St Patrick’s Day parade today?

So the journal deletes my comment calling out “jb” for making scu m¥ remarks yesterday within minutes yet left his scu m¥ remarks up yesterday for hours.
@Brian Dunne: If I’m not mistaken, they kept your comment and the subsequent ones on the thread, but deleted JB’s
@Kev Kerr: his comment was up for a number of hours though. I don’t understand how it’s not an immediate ban for an account. Standards have plummeted around here.

@Brian Dunne: Sometimes they are banned and there back all most immediately under a different name,some have multiple accounts going at once,some are even answering each other,same person two accounts in conversation.
@Brian Dunne: It’s not the first time he’s been reported for making derogatory comments. Has a habit of posting the most vile and disgusting content just to cause offence and get attention

Went to one too many parades in Limerick. Absolutely woeful they are.
They haven’t a clue how to do a parade. No idea what entertainment is – badly organised with huge gaps and long periods of nobody doing anything.
Lame attempts at costumes, if they even bother.
Rows of vans and trucks advertising businesses with the odd green ribbon or balloon stuck to the front grill.
Miserable faced children walking down the street looking like they’d rather be anywhere else.
A few groups of scouts singing – “Everywhere we go, people always tell us…”
Over and over. Then gangs of feral scuts up to the usual no good ruining everything else.
It’s depressing.
I’m personally not a fan of parades or St Patrick’s day in general, although I love parade matching bands. Patrick’s Day is just an excuse for people to get wasted.

@Me Me: seems to be a new “game” where you drive a car into a van and you win points according to the damage caused.
Fairly expensive hobby and not wholly legal, but some of our “best and brightest” don’t mind that.
I decided to just watch it on TV this year. My mother is getting a bit old (she’s in her late 80s) for going in so there was no point flying back to Ireland for the event and the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Fort Worth was somewhat underwhelming this year. I find that younger people don’t have as much interest in the event and my kids are never overly eager to celebrate if we do decide to go.
I’m thinking about it, I still have an hour to make up my mind.
Attended one yesterday,got it out of the way.
