Cullen gave the ball away a lot in midfield…. but good result…. Johnson and Brady were excellent 1st half….makings of a half decent team…. badly need a good central midfielder….
@R kelly: smallbone and molumby direct replacements for knight/cullen when back/available.
@R kelly: I agree, it’s central midfield where we’re struggling. I’d move Collins in there alongside Taylor. I don’t rate Cullen or Malumby. They’ve both had multiple chances and have never taken them. They’ve been consistently outayed by the likes of Luxembourg. Then we have Szmodics, Aziz, Smallbone, Festy, Knight, Johnson and others who can play as a 3rd or 4 midfielder, depending on our shape. But we need central midfielders who can win the ball and distribute it and neither Cullen or Malumby when he’s fit can do it.
@R kelly: Yeah it’s the one position where we are really substandard but unfortunately probably the most important position on the field. No central midfield no hope. Knight and Cullen put in plenty of effort but they will be badly outclassed by better teams.
@Gearoid MacEachaidh: I agree with you about Collins…. I’ve always felt he would be better in a central midfield roll….Smallbone and him might work well
