Pop star Katy Perry, TV presenter Gayle King, and Lauren Sanchez – the fiancée of Jeff Bezos – were among the passengers on the Blue Origin flight.
The rocket blasted off from western Texas in the US and returned to earth just over ten minutes later.
Today we’re asking: Would you go to space?

It costs less to send a rocket into space than to build a bike shed where our spacers hang out.
And next week they’ll be doing some blog about reuse and recycle. Reminds me of listening to a group of young people who flew back from hols in south east Asia .to hop on plane to Berlin to go to festival. And then sat in front of me and we’re starry-eyed about how eco friendly it was.

Absolutely! It would be such an incredible experience.
This was a publicity stunt. The vehicle was completely automated; they literally just had to sit there. Calling them a “crew” is a bit of a stretch.
I look at people like Dr. Norah Patten as inspirational, not whatever this was supposed to be.
Would I go to space? Probably not. There are those far more qualified than me.
I would, however, love to do an anti-gravity flight.

Unless you had faster than light travel and could go exploring I don’t see the point. This Space Tourism where you go for a hop and experience weightlessnes just seems silly to me.
Mentioning Valentina Tereshkova in the same sentence as yesterday’s joke of a publicity stunt is just offensive.
@Tricia G28: actually Valentina was equally unqualified. The Soviets just wanted to get one over the Yanks. She spent most of her flight asleep. Sally Ride and Liu Yang were the real thing.

This was a sub-orbital hop. You’d have to do at least one orbit for all that money. I’d go though.
The good news: Katie Perry went to space.

If we were in the Star Trek universe, with routine and very safe space travel, then yes. However I’m afraid I no longer have the nerve to face the prospect of being fired off in a rocket.

Whichever way it goes, it’s a win for the mysoginists. If they’re lauded, it gives Bezos legitimacy. If they’re booed, the mysogs get to say “well look what happened when it was all women. We shouldn’t send anyone else!”
