The 9 at 9 Nine things you need to know by 9am: The latest on the Michaela Harte murder investigation, good new for swine flu sufferers, and David Drumm on The Fitzpatrick Tapes: “Bullshit”.

Every morning, TheJournal.ie brings you nine things you really need to know with your morning coffee.

1. #MICHAELA HARTE: Police in Mauritius are following a definite line of inquiry in the investigation into the death of Michaela Harte, who was strangled yesterday in the bathroom of the hotel where she was on honeymoon with her husband, the Down footballer John McAreavey. The officer heading up the investigation told TheJournal.ie that a list of suspects have been identified – and McAreavey is not among them. He said he expected the case to be wrapped up by this afternoon.

2. #GAS LEAK: The woman who died as a result of a suspected gas leak at a Kinsale hotel saw a doctor just hours before her body was discovered, it has been reported. The doctor that attended to Miriam Reidy is understood to have prescribed tablets for a stomach bug, reports the Irish Examiner.

3. #COWEN: Taoiseach Brian Cowen is due to make a full statement to the Dail tomorrow on his meetings with Sean Fitzpatrick, following his denial that there was any “hidden or secret agenda” to their discussions. Rumours of a heave have again resurfaced in the Fianna Fail party, as the Labour Party’s Joan Burton accused him yesterday of misleading the Dail.

4. #DRUMM: David Drumm is denying some aspects of Sean Fitzpatrick’s account of what took place at Anglo in the months before the bank guarantee, describing it as “bullshit”. Contacted in Boston by Simon Carswell of the Irish Times, he said Fitzpatrick’s characterisation of his role as back-seat had no bearing on reality. “He was all over it”.

5. #LIMERICK: The suspects in the double killings that took place in Limerick at the weekend have been caught on CCTV, gardaí believe. Yesterday, seven people were arrested in connection with the investigation into the deaths of Des Kelly and Breda Waters.

6. #SWINE FLU: Good news if you’re suffering a bout of the swine flu: battling the illness successfully can leave you with super-immunity against flu-type illnesses in the future, researchers believe.

7. #SARAH PALIN: Sarah Palin’s hopes of being the Republican party nominee to take on Barack Obama have been dashed as she faces severe criticism over her targetting of Gabrielle Giffords.

8. #WINKLEVOSS TWINS: The Winklevoss twins are to gamble a $65 million settlement they made with Facebook following a legal battle over who came up with the idea for the site – a battle documented in the film, the Social Network – in an effort to get more money, the BBC reports.

9.#MICHAEL DOUGLAS: Good news – in a television interview to be aired in the US next week, Michael Douglas says he has beaten late-stage cancer and is confident of making a full recovery.

If I watch TV with my technophobe mother, I have to keep my laptop open.
I must be prepared for the challenge,
“I recognize that fella, he was in something else, what was it? will you check the internet there, the imbd?!? C’mon it’ll drive me mad!”
Game of Thrones was a nightmare, full of people she knew from somewhere else.

People go mad for twitter while watching Vincent Browne and the like. I, for one, like it.
With political based TV getting a feel for what others are thinking is pretty interesting, though when you find your the minority, sometimes a little disappointing. Including all the links and info that people have a sudden desire to share it’s pretty worth your while to keep the laptop or phone with you while watching.

I’m not sure about soaps and that but I guess it’s just nice to be able to have a natter with other people who want to listen. Unfortunately my poor mum had to put up with plenty of blank stares and headphones from us kids when she made comments while watching corrie.

I guess in one way you could say we are becoming less social, community based with the rise in technology but also as humans we long for some social and sense of community so we are using technology in this way.It is quiet interesting

All you have to do is unsubscribe from their posts or un-friend. It is coming up a lot lately people giving out about other peoples post being too personal or about silly stuff like X Factor. While I agree people put too much personal information and pointless stuff it is up to us to unsubscribe, ignore or un-friend.
