DERRY FASHION DESIGNER Jonathan Anderson has been confirmed as the new artistic director of Dior menswear.
Anderson, the son of former Irish rugby international Willie Anderson, is known as a low-key figure, who often appears dressed casually at the end of his shows.
In an Instagram post today, Anderson posted a Dior label accompanied by a four-leaf clover to confirm the news.
The move comes on the back of his decision to step down as the creative director of the luxury fashion house Loewe in March, following an 11-year stint in the role.
Anderson also created the eye-catching outfits worn by Rihanna during her Super Bowl half-time show in 2023, something he described as a “wild, wonderful dream”.
Anderson graduated from the London College of Fashion in 2005 and began his career in Prada’s marketing department before launching his own brand, JW Anderson, in 2008.
In 2013, LVMH took a minority stake in his fashion label.
The news that Anderson would take over the helm at Dior menswear was announced today by LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault at a shareholders meeting in Paris.
“I can tell you that the next Christian Dior men’s fashion show, which will take place in June (in Paris), will be created by Jonathan Anderson,” he said.
Anderson replaces British designer Kim Jones at Dior Men, who stepped down at the end of January after seven years.
But Anderson’s arrival comes at a time when the luxury industry as a whole is facing increasingly tricky market conditions, with a slowdown in China and an escalating global trade war causing concern.
The move is part of a major reshuffling of top jobs at fashion brands after a round of resignations and forced departures.
A long list of labels are either bedding in new designers or looking for fresh talent including Chanel, Celine, Fendi, Givenchy, Gucci, Dries Van Noten and Tom Ford.
The success of Dior’s clothing and leather goods division is of crucial financial and dynastic importance to LVMH owner Arnault, one of the world’s wealthiest men.
He placed his daughter Delphine in charge of Dior Couture in February 2023.

Yes, stay at home, but many like to keep busy doing some gardening as it’s good for the soul, especially with growing season just starting, spring almost here and hopefully some warmer weather on the way.
DIY time also.
Plenty of badly needed consumer spending, economic activity in above lot while we wait for covid-19 to clear.

I called Woodies to query a cancelled order and they told me to pop in for a refund so obviously the staff aren’t too bothered. Plenty of measures in place to keep everyone safe and everyone adhering. Though admittedly I wouldn’t have been there had it not been requested.

When all is said and done everyone needs to remember how badly the extra welfare payments were needed and now be whinging about some additional taxes to pay in retrospect.

I work in a hardware store and we have never been busier, its mental! People think that cause they are stuck at home that it’s essential that their kitchen gets painted. Some are in and out of the shop 3 or 4 times a day!! Really don’t think people are taking this seriously

@Clubhouse Barman.: I can’t understand why golf courses are shut. Maybe about 30 or 40 people spread over many acres of land. But it is what it is which is nothing but a 1st world issue. ( maybe not for you as I take it you work in a club house) Main thing is everyone stays apart where possible . Be safe people.

I don’t see Insurance Companies on the list, surely they are as important as the banks and post office and credit unions??????
@Lyndsay Rehn: can’t imagine many people have to visit insurance companies so why keep them open, I’m sure it’s business as usual (I use that phrase lightly) for a lot of companies that don’t require bricks and mortar premises
