Two more arrests in David Black murder investigation

The men are being questioned at Antrim Police Station.

POLICE IN NORTHERN Ireland have arrested two men in relation to the murder of prison officer David Black.

The suspects, aged 34 and 42, were detained at Coalisland and taken to the Serious Crime Suite at Antrim Police Station.

A total of six arrests have been made since the fatal shooting on November 1.

The 52-year-old father was shot as he drove to work at Maghaberry jail via the M1. It is understood a car with Dublin registration places pulled up alongside the prison officer’s vehicle and opened fire. His car veered off the road and into a deep ditch. The victim died at the scene. A car thought to be linked to the shooting was found burnt-out in Lurgan later that day.

A group calling themselves ‘The IRA’ has claimed responsibility for the murder, an act that has been condemned internationally.
