Danske Bank Launches Ireland¹s first iPad Banking app Maxwell Photography

Danske Bank launches Ireland's first iPad banking app

Latest figures show that the use of online banking in Ireland is up 17 per cent and two million Irish adults own a smart device.

WITH SIX OUT of ten smartphone owners using mobile banking, perhaps it isn’t a surprise to hear that Danske Bank have launched the country’s first iPad banking app.

According to Danske Bank (previously National Irish Bank), it is estimated that the combined use of online and mobile banking will reach 71 per cent of the adult population in Ireland by the end of 2013 and 83 per cent by the end of 2015.

“We’re delighted to launch Ireland’s first banking app specifically designed for the iPad,” said Stephen Foley, Head of Personal Banking, Danske Bank.

Customer feedback has been incredibly positive since we launched our Smartphone app last year – with usage of that service now surpassing the use of all our other channels. Our iPad app is another significant step in our drive to offer the most advanced banking technology to allow our customers to bank on their terms.

Two million (or 63 per cent) of Irish adults own a smart device, which is up 54 per cent since last year. Since 2011, the use of online banking in Ireland is up 17 per cent, while in 2013 $600 billion is expected to be dealt with globally in mobile payments. 2010 saw a 60 per cent increase in global adoption of mobile banking.

Almost one in three Danske Bank customers in Ireland are active users of its eBanking service. To view an infographic on the topic, click here.

Danske Bank said that the app is available free from the App Store and allows customers to check their account balances, view and search through their transactions for the past thirteen months, transfer money, pay bills, compare incomes and expenditure, and other useful features.

The app features a ‘dashboard’ of widgets which can be customised depending on how customers prefer to view their finances.

The app is available online by clicking here.

You’ve had the iPhone app on your iPad. Different thing altogether. BOIs iPhone app is ok, use it regularly myself. But an iPad version would be better. But judging how long it took them to get the mobile version ready, we could be left waiting a long time.

Well, they took too long to update it so I deleted it. It lacked some of the functions of the website anyway.

Have had the app for weeks and it is top notch.
They are a cashless bank now though which is scary and confusing for my Granny. She likened it to a restaurant with no food.

This is an iPad-specific app, as opposed to the apps (or internet banking) that can be used on all mobile devices.
