Dogs sent to Newtown to comfort school shooting survivors

Nice gesture as US citizens try to help in some small way after Connecticut mass killing.

A GROUP OF golden retrievers were sent from a Lutheran organisation in Illinois to Newtown, Connecticut, where they will comfort the survivors and others affected by the recent massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

The group of 10 dogs arrived in Newtown late Saturday night from Lutheran Church Charities in Addison, Ill. — which is near Chicago, according to the organisation’s website. They were in attendance for US President Barack Obama’s speech at an interfaith gathering Sunday night.

“Dogs are non-judgmental. They are loving. They are accepting of anyone,” Tim Hetzner, the organization’s president, told The Chicago Tribune. “It creates the atmosphere for people to share.”

The dogs have travelled across the country to places devastated by tragedies like Superstorm Sandy and the tornado in Joplin, Missouri.

Bolivia now should offer Mr Snowden a passport.
That will allow the man to legally travel (one way or another) and at the same time will be an “Up Yours!” to the American bullying government.

I’m sick of the double standards coming from America right now.

There is really no way American fighter planes could fire on another countries plane (unless they claim it was an accident of course!). To do so would be an act of war by America.

Would they be that bravado and stupid? Sadly maybe!

And did you ever wonder why so many Bolivians have had to leave their country? The US government and US companies have been a highly destructive force in Bolivia. It’s one of the poorest countries in South America even though it’s extremely wealthy in resources like tin and natural gas. American companies have effectively pillaged them in the past.

In 1999, even the water supply was privatised under a right wing government and a US company Bechtel were granted rights. They doubled the price of water and many people in Bolivia couldn’t afford it and it took an uprising from the people to renationalise it!

Evo Morales has done his best to reverse these destructive policies. He has nationalised the natural gas industry for instance.

Edward Snowden is a hero and he deserves protection. I don’t care if Maduro or Morales are political point-scoring I just want to see him safe.

The laws in both Britain and America allow their security services to do it. And as most people are most likely using an American owned Web server that is working with said security services there was no illegality.

Might I recommend you read the 4th amendment to the US constitution. It is unequivocal that probable cause is necessary to conduct a search on an individual or their property. There is NO probable cause that virtually Americans and most Europeans are engaged in criminal activity, and therefore the mass surveillance is illegal and unconstitutional in the US:
“The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”

    That’s pretty clear, isn’t it?

A law that is unconstitutional is no law at all. Congress could well pass a law that requires you to worship the Flying Spaghetti Monster. That would be unconstitutional. But some, like you, I presume, would insist that it is illegal for US citizens not to worship the FSM.
Segregation was “legal”, though it was unconstitutional, violating the “equal protection” clause.
Slavery was “legal”. The genocide of the Native Americans was “legal”.
Similarly, The “Patriot” Act. First amendment, fourth amendment, fifth, sixth, and eighth amendments are thown under a bus. It is an anathema to anyone who supports constitutional governance.
