TWO MEN IN their 50s were arrested today on suspicion of sexual offences as part of the investigation surrounding Jimmy Savile.
Metropolitan Police Officers, working on Operation Yewtree, arrested a 53-year-old man at around 8.00 am in Hampshire and he was taken into custody locally for questioning.
The second man, 59, was arrested at midday in west London and brought to a London police station.
Both individuals fall under the strand the police have termed ‘others’.
These men are the ninth and tenth people arrested into Operation Yewtreee, which is investigating historic sex offences and centres on allegations against former BBC presenter, Jimmy Savile.

Just looking at that photo makes me think that if he was in fact a pedophile, you’d imagine that he would make more of an effort to look less like one..
didn’t know there was a stereotypical look to be one. Fact is they could look like any man or woman. having preconceived of how a pedophile/ criminal should look can be dangerous and can start witch hunts.

I’ve seen some weird celebrity pictures over the years does that make them criminals too. i sure the journal went hunting for a creepy picture too. the picture does reflect his evil nature though.

What I cant understand is how he got away with it all. Particularly when so many people “knew” he was dodgy and how so many people surrounding him are implicated in it. There must be a hell of a lot of people who knew what he was at and said nothing. There is also the fact that he did act the part to some degree. I dont think anyone really looks like a paedo or whatever but you cant deny someone like Saville looked and acted a bit odd in that regards and yet the rags musnt have went digging, as they surely wouldnt have had to dig too far.

The picture of Jimmy Savile is just scary. He has such a wild and strange stare to him. To think this is what was making children’s programmes. His many was possibly mixed up in this may never be know. I just pray that justice is done for the victims in as best as it can be.

Always hated that man.. He was not even a man.. A horrible disgusting sick pervert, always knew something would come out about him eventually, all that charity work was just a cover up and an excuse to get to those poor children.. Hope he rots in hell!!
I think a lot of people knew and even more were involved , it took place at a time when it was easy to cover up wrong doing.

No doubt saville is a weirdo but I think the whole thing has turned into a farce. The whole debacle was started by a Karen Warde ( ITV documentary) who I believe is not a credible witness as she has already spent a year in jail for ” Deception” , was found guilty of passing of fraudulent cheques, accused another man in the early 90s of sexual assault and he was also dead , has 7 kids for 5 fathers , divorced 3 times , never worked but is a legal secretary and yet that’s never mentioned in the press.
It’s got to the stage that any BBC presenter that had a fling in the 70s is open to charges because as one UK barrister said ” it’s a cash cow since the BBC made an apology”
Any man that took advantage of a child should have his testicles removed and that goes without saying but I fail to see how, out of nearly 500 Saville claims alone , not one could have said it while he was alive.
@Niall that’s the thing, people did speak up when he was alive they just weren’t believed or investigated properly.
@sussana do a litte research and you will see you are incorrect. One person came forward to the surrey police while he was alive and it was dismissed by the DPP as there was no evidence and no case. That woman was Karen ward who in my opinion has zero credibility because of her deceptive past. Remember she has done this before and spent a year in jail for deception.
He was a filthy perv whose disgusting ways were covered up for so long because of the other high profile people who were also in on it- royals, politicians, corrupt police etc.
Read up about it. It’s sickening to know that so many paedophiles will not be convicted because of corruption.
@Niall. Yep its starting to get a bit Brass-eyed alright. Anyone who was big in the seventies is going to be pointed at by media. Paul Daniels recently felt compelled to recall a story where he mutually kissed a hitchhiker and stopped when he realised she may be underage. Of course he was vilified and accused of making excuses for other celebrities.
I dont think he was ‘dodgy’, i was on jim’l fix it in the 80′s, i was backstage wearing hotpants and a boob tube and he didnt touch me. Maybe i wasnt his type? : )

Look at photos of the late Fathers Sean Fortune and Brendan Smyth amongst others. Combine celibacy in relation to avoiding relationships with other adults and an occupation which gives easy access to children is a very bad idea. Of course child sexual abuse happens within families as well but it is sensible to be on guard about single males who crave the company of children. It is not possible to be too careful.

@ Hope Lasts, Yes, I seem to have provoked a few red thumbs, possibly for naming some Roman Catholic priests.
My general point could have been better expressed. Men who are not in adult relationships and who gravitate to occupations such as priests, which allowed easy access to children or who take on roles such as swimming coaches etc., have to be the subject of suspicion. They fit a profile even though the majority are not a users.
As a man, I think that it is safer to be excessively suspicious than under suspicious. The perpetrators of child abuse are almost invariably men, they tend to avoid intimate relationships with other adults and they have a need to spend time grooming their victims. Sadly, this may mean that apprehension or suspicion may fall on some men but it is better that there be too much vigilance than not enough vigilance.
It is wicked, it is vile and it is a terrible trauma for any child to be the victim of abuse. The consequence of the need to ensure that this abhorrent abuse is prevented is the highest possible level of vigilance. Better that men who wish to train or to supervise children are treated with careful scrutiny, even if the majority may have laudable and altruistic aims, so that the minority of child abusers are prevented in gaining unsupervised access to children.
I have to accept that innocently and well intentioned men may feel resentful that the purity of their motives could even be questioned but that is a lesser concern than the evil of a single child being abused.
@ Hope Lasts, your old man was intuitive and insightful. It is odd that Saville needed to spend so much time with children and early teens. Caroline Ahern was the first to gut Saville in her Mrs Merton role. So it is certainly the case that some insightful people realised that there was something unhealthy about Saville. Unfortunately, the cult of celebrity allowed him to indulge his perverted desires. Many thanks for your supportive post.
A civilised society will consider the protection of children as its paramount priority. Women understand this. Most men do as well.

@Niall It’s not speculation though. Have a google of jim davidson arrested and you will see a load of newspapers have reported that he was one of the people arrested.

I am getting seriously tired and very suspicious of all these allegations. Its looking very highly unlikely anyone will be convicted dvd to severe lack of evidence and the amount of publicity would make finding an impartial jury impossible. If any of the accused did abuse anyone, underage or otherwise the should pot in jail, but to have an innocent persons name tarnished is also unacceptable. And the media did dig into Saville before he died but got nowhere, then maybe the press where involved aswell.
I think it is common practice to question a suspect first. It’s unavoidable that journalists get wind of celebrities being picked up for such questioning and duly report it, thejournal.ie being no different.
I don’t think the process can change just because it’s Jim Davidson or Freddy Starr.
