AN IRISH WEBSITE has put together an interactive map of Dublin’s pubs of 1969, based on a book by pub historian Roy Bulson.
The map, created by Publin.ie shows where in Dublin the pubs were and gives details of what is located there now.
Many of the pubs still exist, some have made way for office blocks or apartments or have changed their names.
Ireland’s oldest pub, the Brazen Head is still going strong but music venue Whelans on Wexford Street was called Bourkes in 1969 and gay bar The George used to be The Carrigan Lounge.
Doyles, popular with students due to its proximity to Trinity College, used to be The College Mooney and its patrons back in the day were described as “a very cosmopolitan clientelle”.

By the way some people drive over here, sometimes you would think its the same situation .
Imagine if penalty points was introduced in Mexico, would be more shootings a day than car deaths.
I’m in Mexico City as we speak. Drivers here, particularly taxi drivers, are mental. You have to be in order to survive. They actually make Irish drivers look half decent by comparison!

Wow that’s something. They don’t even require people to buy a license like me nan did back in the day.
We can all blame Eugene Lambert for introducing the driving test into the country…
