Two sailors rescued after getting caught in strong winds on Dublin Bay

The pair had been trying to return to the harbour for two hours but their boat kept capsizing.

TWO DINGHY SAILORS were rescued by the RNLI Dun Laoghaire lifeboat this afternoon after they got into difficulty in strong winds on Dublin Bay.

The pair were trying to return to the harbour for two hours but their boat repeatedly capsized close to the harbour entrance.

A concerned member of the public walking on the pier reported the situation to the Coastguard.

The all-weather lifeboat was launched at 12.20 pm, due to the deteriorating conditions and moderate visibility, and the casualty boat was towed to Coal Harbour slipway.

Neither crew-member needed medical attention.

I use to work there 25 year ago as a lounge boy. It was known as the Wharf Tavern back then.

@Derrick Ó Súilleabháin: 23:30, most pubs would start clearing people out at about 00:30, so not unusual for it to still have people in.
