Poll: Are you a snoozer?

Do you get up at the crack of dawn or do you go a few rounds with the alarm clock?

IS THE ALARM clock your friend or foe?

Yesterday evening, the ZzzEO of the Snooze Acadamy Darren Ryan shared his seven tips to defeat the dreaded snooze button and it got us thinking about our morning habits.

Some people can get up and start their day at the crack of dawn (or before that) without a problem. Others need the alarm clock to bully them out of the cosy bedsheets. What camp do you fit into?

In today’s poll, we ask: Are you a snoozer?

Poll Results:

Yes, I go a few rounds with the snooze button (1524)
No, I get up on the first alarm (1469)
No, I don't even need an alarm (342)
Yes, but I only use the snooze button once (288)

I have kids too but still need a few rounds of the snooze button as they are not morning people either, they just get in beside us and go back to sleep

I get up when my alarms rings. My wife however, especially on my days off, seems to step into the ring with her alarm and do 12 rounds. Not annoying at all. Not. At. All*

True Pierce, but there is sometimes the odd stray one wandering about, blinking in the early morning, wondering what that big ball of light in the eastern horizon is.
It’s always better to be vigilant & not give them any encouragement.

I set two alarms, one to wake me up so I can snooze and the other to get me up in case I fall asleep during the snooze.

I do this too, with the second alarm on top of my wardrobe on the far side of the room, I find the stretch helps with the waking process!

I’m brutal in the mornings. Usually hit the alarm and wake up an hour later. I don’t think it has anything to do with snoozing. I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s pure laziness.

When I wake up I get up. I can’t lie there awake, it’d be tedious.

Part of being a former milkman I suppose.

I also tend to wake up just before the alarm.

We think there may be a correlation between the distance you live from your place of work and the amount of time that you snooze. The closer you live, the more you snooze.

I’ve noticed that too – it’s the distance paradox. I think if you live far way and rely on motorised transport to get you to work, it’s the fear that you’ll hit traffic / miss the bus if you don’t wake up on time.

15 years of military service, don’t need an alarm clock. I used to be terrible as a kid but an instructor persuaded me it was a good idea to get up.

Anti snooze tip fail – the farther away the snooze button is, the more time it takes (under the duvet) to recover from the shock of sudden semi conscious movement & the deathly damp, grey Irish dawn. Getting out of bed to hit it? At least half an hour of recuperation.

Love that feeling when your wrecked and the bed is the most wonderful place you can imagine, but then that poxy alarm and for a minute or two you hate everything. Say to yourself it can’t be time to get up already. Horrible,, but we manage to get up and on with it. I’ve been working nights for 9 years. Never get used to sleeping at day :-(

I use my mobile phone to wake me up – nothing like the sound of a demented cock crowing at 7.20am to wake you up *and* give you heart failure at one and the same time! But the radio goes on then, and I have another 20 minutes or so before I’m ready to face the world.
