FOOTAGE HAS BEEN released of an incident where a runaway train sped through the London Underground – racing through seven busy stations before finally being brought to a halt.

The train – which is used to nudge other carriages around the network – could not be stopped by its operator, who is seen here leaping out of the drivers’ cab fearing for his own safety.

The incident occurred in August 2011, but footage has only been released this week following the conclusion of court cases involving the Tube operator and the maker of the train involved.

A train carrying passengers, which was travelling directly in front of the runaway vehicle, was instructed not to stop and instead to pass through stations uninterrupted until the runaway train could be stopped.

The errant train eventually ground to a halt when it hit an incline between two stations, and did not have the power to complete the hill.

The Tube operator and the train manufacturer were each fined £100,000.

I work close to Slice and to anyone here who is close to it or would like to go a little out of their way for a high quality lunch, I would thoroughly recommend a visit. The food is great with top ingredients and a lovely twist that lets you know that the chef is really thinking about flavour and texture

SLICE is beautiful little cafe, gorgeous food with the best of local ingredients. Great atmosphere and the finest coffees and treats. It’s good to see small local businesses diversifying during these strange times and best of luck to them getting back to normal in the future.
