IS YOUR DOG after taking a solo DART trip this morning?
Irish Rail have found a lost dog, and tell us they believe she hopped on board a DART at Howth Junction.
She was found at Connolly Station and is now being cared for by staff members there.

She isn’t the only dog to have gotten lost on the DART recently – we previously covered the story of little Lady, who was handed in to staff at Malahide DART station before Christmas.
Though no one stepped forward to claim Lady, she has since been rehomed with the family of an Irish Rail employee who took care of her during the Christmas period.

This poor little lady looks like she’s been abandoned, you can see her bones :( Hope someone claims her or adopts her.
She looks healthy enough to me.. I’d say she’s still a pup and pups often look boney because their limbs are growing so quickly!
Still, I’d say you’re right that she was abandoned by some moron. I hope the little mite finds a good home.
This is a prime example of why we should have mandatory microchipping of all dogs. It’s quick, painless on the dog and it allows lost dogs to be returned to their owners quickly, or in the case of abandonment, accountability.
Microchipping?? There r plenty of other problems they should be tackling first like puppy farms, proper punishment animal cruelty like jail terms. There r no laws for animal welfare, this country makes me sick. And if someone is going to kick there dog out onto the streets, like half the country seem to be doing, their hardly going to hav bothered getting their dog microchipped.
She looks like a Shar Pei x Staff cross.
No ticket? So when you pick her up you can expect a substantial fine from Irish Rail.
Ah Damocles – it was a cheeky headline. I doubt Irish Rail will be fining this dog for travelling sans ticket… :)

Why do people think it’s ok to let their dogs roam free? If anybody doesn’t want a dog for whatever reason what’s so bloomin difficult about bringing that dog to a rescue centre and surrendering it rather than cutting it loose? Also, what’s so difficult with sticking a collar on a dog with an ID tag if you cannot afford to microchip it?
If you cant afford to microchip the dog then you shouldn’t own a dog. If a €30 chip is too much what about feeding and vaccinations? Those are needed annually. What happens if the dog gets sick or injured? Vet bills will be massively higher than the price of a chip. Dogs are amazing animals and I’m a big dog fan. But they require work and they do cost money to look after. All these things need to be seriously considered before getting a dog.
On another note there are hundreds of dogs badly in need of loving homes in shelters all around the country. The dogs in these shelters are for the most part already chipped and neutered before you take them home. Surely thats a better option than a new pup that needs all these things if you’re concerned about the cost of looking after a dog.

Maybe the dog was kept in a closed backyard and an errant delivery man left the gate ajar.

That dog is clearly malnourished and probably abandoned, the best thing would be to ring the DSPCA and let them take care of the dog
