Woman 'hit on head with glass bottle' on bus travelling from Louth to Down

One 23-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the incident but has been released on bail.

POLICE IN NORTHERN Ireland are appealing for witnesses after a woman was assaulted on a bus travelling from Louth to Down.

The incident happened on Sunday when the woman was hit over the head with a glass bottle aboard the private hire bus. The women had to be treated in hospital for her injuries.

A window at the front of the bus was smashed in the incident.

One 23-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the investigation but was later released on bail.

The PSNI have spoken to some of the passengers on board but have appealed for any other witnesses to come forward.

    The witnesses were on that bus! Could the police not interview those people?

    I’ve no doubt that the police asked the other people on the bus for statements, but none of those witnesses are obliged to talk to the police & can’t be compelled to do do.

    Then why put out an appeal for witnesses? It’s not like people who were not on the bus witnessed the event.

    The article says the police have spoken to some of the passengers; they obviously want to speak to the rest of them. In any event, why shouldn’t they make a public appeal? It’s not as if it costs them anything & putting it in the public eye may encourage those who are staying silent to come forward.
