New Hewlett Packard facility to create 150 construction jobs

The 87,000 square foot facility will be dedicated to software research and development, cloud technology and business services.

TECHNOLOGY COMPANY HEWLETT PACKARD (HP) is to construct a new state of the art facility at its existing site at Ballybrit, Co Galway.

The 87,000 square foot facility will have a capacity for up to 700 staff and will be dedicated to software research and development, cloud technology and business services and will lead to the creation of 150 construction jobs during its development.

The managing director of HP Ireland, Martin Murphy, said that the new development was “an exciting and very important development for HP in Ireland.”

“This investment in Ballybrit is an endorsement of Galway as a strategic location of choice for HP and affirms the company’s ongoing commitment to its operations in this country,” he said.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny praised the company, saying that the announcement was “a testament to their Galway staff and operations in Ireland.”

The project will create 150 construction jobs during its development and will provide a much-needed boost for this sector. HP has been a valued business partner in Ireland throughout the years and this new investment will see HP and Ireland remain at the forefront of software research and cloud computing technology.

This is very good news for Galway, and for Ireland as well, in so far as the rest of the world can see that Ireland is open for business, and major companies like Hewlett Packard are not only happy been here, but are expanding as well…

    Well Done HP.

This is very good news. Now when are we going to have computers in every school to start kids learning about IT early so that we can start spilling out excellent graduates from university to fill these jobs?

@See my vest – I say in my first sentence that its great news! Doesn’t mean I cant be critical of the lack of IT education in Ireland before college level.
The comment is hardly the usual anti-government tripe dished out by people in these comments. Its constructive criticism at least!
