IRISH USERS OF Google Play will, from today, be able to purchase and share songs as the music service comes to Ireland.
Originally made available to the UK, Germany, France, Spain, and Italy at its launch in November 2012, seven additional countries have been added from today. These are Ireland, Belgium, Portugal, Austria, Luxembourg, New Zealand and Australia.
The music service allows users to purchase songs and albums and instantly add them to their music library. Users can also add up to 20,000 songs from their existing music collection.
Users can then share these songs, enabling them to listen to them on their computer, Android phone or tablet, even when offline.
Artist hub
To coincide with the launch of the Google Play music service in Ireland, an artist hub will also be created, which will allow up-and-coming artists to upload and share their music, in addition to choosing the price at which they want it to be sold.

A crap one. Just use Spotify. Better service; better value.
Its not crap, its excellent. I’ve been using it for ages, space to hold 22000 of your existing songs all on the cloud for free. Have your music on any pc, phone or android tv box with internet access.
There are alternatives to iTunes. I use 7digital to buy all my music but it will be good to have an integrated player and music store for us ‘droid users.
Its great I have uploaded 15500 songs to mine will be able to upload more faster now I don’t need a VPN.

You dont need VPN to upload your music. I went the same road. Used VPN to register a year ago and once you are register you can login from any PC around the world.

The bigger picture here is Google will now sell the nexus on Ireland. Copyright laws was the main reason they never sold the 4 here.
Spotify is the best music app out there, worth €10 per month for unlimited music straight to any decide you have!
There are free alternatives like grooveshark, which is free. If you can find the tiny shark app its really good and free however due to copyright issues they have taken the link from Google play, can still be found though. LastFm is also a great facility and from what I remember is a lot cheaper than Spotify
I found last fm actually shite, you can’t listen to whole albums, just suggested play lists and it’d guess what you like by reading your library.
Oh yeah plus there’s a lastfm app in spotify which does the job. Grooveshark doesn’t support artists, so Play and Spotify combo seem the best option for me
the lastfm radio or simular artist finder was pretty good, but your right on the album listening. I was using a spotify awhile ago using a vpn becuase of copyright issues here, its good but there taking a precent too… the Google market was a long time comping apple launched itunes in 2003 I think

Play music is a great place to upload your existing music collection. It backs it up and gives you access to it once you are online. You can buy the music anywhere yu like and upload it to the cloud.
Ditto for “iTunes Match”.
I’d rather to be tied into Google than Apple, but I’d prefer not to be tied into either. Will there be a Google Play app for iOS?
Xbox Music has been doing this since October-ish, access to all your already-owned music via the cloud, very handy.

There are a few third party iOS apps. They’re not as good as the official Android app but they do the job. I use GoMusic.
Anybody know if you can scrobble to Last.FM from Google Play? That’s essential for me and would decide whether I use it or not. I can’t see it anywhere on the web.
