DRINKS COMPANY DIAGEO is to pull out of Waterford, resulting in the loss of 21 jobs.
The firm said the decision comes after a review of operations. The site will close by the end of this year.
In a statement, Diageo said it plans to transfer all of the brewery’s operations to St James’s Gate, which will be upgraded.
Paul Armstrong said, “Through their skill and commitment our employees at Waterford have made an outstanding contribution to our business over many years and it is with sadness and regret that we are required to make this decision in order to maintain our global competitiveness.
“We are committed to supporting these employees in exploring alternative employment through career management expertise, career counselling and outplacement support.”
He added, “Diageo greatly values its relationship with the south east of Ireland, and the support it has received over the period of its operations in Waterford.”
Consultations with unions will now get underway. Discussions with State authorities to identify opportunities for the Wateford facility have also started.
Diageo said it will continue to buy about 125,000 tonnes of barley each year from Irish suppliers.

This night club has been running for 3 years and as the statement has said not ONE complaint was made by anyone regarding the stamp or name.
Sineads daughter obviously is over 18 entering into the club and therefore classed as an adult, whether she doesnt agree about the stamp, her adult daughter made the choice to accept the stamp on her arm, if she didnt want to get the stamp on her arm, the club organisers would have adviced an alternative stamp.
The only reason this is in the media, is because of the name, not the fact that it is the one of the busiest and most friendly group you could ask for in Dublin night life. It creates a possitive atmosphere and encourages sub cultures to come together for a night filled with fun, laughter and general good night.
Anyone who disagrees with the name and upset by it.. remember back to when you were younger and had fun? Im sure Sineads daughter had a great night but yet its not outlined in any source of media.

I can curse and swear with the best of them, but I don’t use this swear word because I don’t like it. When I was growing up it was a “bad” curse, however over time the use of words change and they are viewed differently. This I just have to accept and get over myself, so if the people attending the Tuesday night bash choose to have it stamped on their arm that’s their business. There’s a lot more serious things happening in this country than a removable stamp on someones arm.
