ALMOST 700 HOMES on the west coast are without electricity this morning following heavy overnight storms.
ESB Networks is reporting power cuts in many areas between Ballyraine, Co Donegal, and Abbeyfeale in Limerick.
Areas in counties Donegal, Roscommon, Mayo, Galway and Limerick are among those affected.
Estimated times for the services to be restored have not yet been offered, though ESB crews are working to repair any damage caused.
Met Éireann data for 9am shows heavy winds across the country, with gusts of up to 53 knots – nearly 100 kilometres per hour – at Malin Head in Co Donegal.
As yet, however, there are no reports of any traffic disruptions as a result of fallen trees or debris.
