Gardaí investigate theft of whiskey worth €270,000

A consignment of ‘Finnegan Whiskey’, which isn’t sold in Ireland, is stolen from a premises in Carlingford, Co Louth.

GARDAÍ IN CO LOUTH are investigating the theft of over a quarter of a million euro worth of whiskey from a premises in the county.

A consignment of the ‘Finnegan’s Whiskey’, which is not available on the Irish market, was taken from the premises on February 5, but Gardaí have now issued photographs of the stolen products in order to help trace their whereabouts.

The label on the front of the bottle is written in the Irish language and depicted a Neolithic stone figure, Gardaí said, while the label on the rear was in French, with the exception of the words ‘Finnegan Finest Irish Whiskey’.

The bottles are all 700ml in capacity, and stock in broken boxes with the brand name and words ‘uisce beatha’.

Anyone with information on where the products are located, or any person who has been offered the product for sale, is asked to contact Gardaí in Carlingford at (042) 9373102 or the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111.
