EVERY HOUR – on the half hour – TheJournal.ie brings you your fix of election tallies, predictions and results of the last 60 minutes. Here’s how the winners and losers of GE11 are playing out so far.

WINNERS:

A United Ireland - According to Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams, that is. The SF press office has sent around a statement saying that Adams believes that a vote for Sinn Fein candidate was a vote “for equality, a real republic and a United Ireland”.

Enda Kenny – Well, yes, we know you know that already. But he’ll be spoiled for St Patrick’s Day invites if the congratulatory phone calls from abroad today are anything to go by. According to RTE news, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, British Prime Minister David Cameron and the EC’s Jose Manuel Barroso have been in touch with the man who would be Taoiseach.

LOSERS:

Tim Broderick - The independent candidate is not seeking a recount in Galway East. He was eliminated with just six votes fewer than Fine Gael’s Tom McHugh after a recount of the seventh count.

Dermot Connolly – The Sinn Fein candidate who originally went out in the second count has just been re-eliminated in Galway East during that recount.

Modesty - Jonathan O’Brien, who was elected for Sinn Fein in Cork North Central, has tweeted this hour to say that “media reports saying 1 box in Knocknaheeny  had 100% SF votes are wrong. It was only 90+%” Oh. Is that all?
