UPDATE: Teen dies after swimming incident in Cork river

The boy was swimming with two other teens when he got into difficulty yesterday evening.

A 17-YEAR-OLD boy has passed away in hospital this morning after being rescued from a river in Cork yesterday evening.

Gardaí said they are investigating the incident in which the boy and two other teens – a boy and girl – were swimming in the River Blackwater, near Knocknagree.

The boy got into difficulty and emergency services were called at about 5.30pm. Gardaí and two ambulances attended the scene and he was pulled out of the water.

He was taken by air ambulance to Kerry General Hospital in Tralee where he died earlier today.

    the tanaiste would rather have another referendum than worry about the students many of whom have had to give up their education because of this useless government

    Marriage referendum is hugely important and long overdue. far too important for you to just gloss over as you just have.

    Education is not a priority for this Government might help to keep people slightly uneducated so that we can get good cheap labour out of them in future years.Labour how fitting eh.

    Erm… pardon me, but RTE had a bit on the 5.01 news yesterday about the Scott medals being awarded. Are there two lots?
