DALE CREGAN WAS told today that he would die in prison for the murders of PC Fiona Bone, PC Nicola Hughes and a father and son.
The 30-year-old, described by police’s chief constable, Peter Fahy, as a “scourge on our society” lured the officers to an address in Hattersley on 18 September 2012 with a fictitious report of a burglary, he launched a gun and grenade attack on them.
Cregan also pleaded guilty to the murder of 23-year-old Mark Short in a pub on 25 May 2012 and the murder Mark’s father, 46-year-old David Short, who was killed at his home in Clayton on 10 August 2012.
He was on the run for the murder of both Short men when he killed both 32-year-old Bone and 23-year-old Hughes.

“After our two officers were murdered in cold blood whilst on duty, I personally reflected for a long time afterwards as to whether anything more could have been done to prevent their deaths, but quickly came to realise you cannot police such evil,” said Fahy.
“All four of these murders were planned assassinations, meticulously calculated,” said Chief Constable, Peter Fahy.
Along with Cregan, five others were convicted for their roles in the murders of the officers and the father and son in Greater Manchester.
Anthony Wilkinson (34) and Jermaine Anton Ward (24) were found guilty the murder of David Short. Mohammed Imran Ali (32) was found guilty of assisting an offender in connection with the death of David Short. Luke Livesey (28) was been found guilty of one count of murder of Mark Short and three counts of attempted murder and Damien Gorman (38) was found guilty of one count of murder of Mark Short and three counts of attempted murder.

If ever there was a clear cut case for the death penalty this must surely be it. Knew he was off to jail and murdered two police officers in cold blood just to be a ‘big man’ inside.
Police and prison officers should now be allowed to do whatever they like with no public record or namby pamby liberal questioning about tehabiliatation or other such nonsense.
All that’s required is notification to the victims families that he’s gone and assurances that he suffered long and hard to get there.

Does anyone know here know what his reason was for killing the two policewomen, I had heard he was involved in Irish organized crime in Manchester, was it something to do with that, or did he just loose the plot??

Cop killers have a hard time in prison, he’d want to keep an eye out for revenge attacks.
Really? I remember hearing of a disturbing incident that happened when the guy that kilked garda mccallion went into prison, he got a standing ovation from the rest of the degenerates in there.

Trial was 5Million. His life incarceration many millions more. He’ll be famous in Prison and enjoy a better life than many people struggling on the outside. I’d ask the victims family what they’d like to do with him.
Maybe they’ll opt to dissolve him in acid very slowly.

This guy is evil personified. He sounds too dangerous even for prison. I would imagine there are few prisoner’s who would welcome sharing a cell with him. I hope he likes his own company.

I read the article about he killed the police officers last year and was struck by how evil this man is. Frightening – thankfully he will never see the light of day again.
