Only in Ireland Pic of the Day

Take care on the road from Limerick to Ballybunion today.

GARDAÍ HAVE WARNED people to drive carefully on the roads as heavy rainfall is expected over the next 24 hours.

But reader John Cotter spotted a warning of a different kind while driving from Limerick to Ballybunion today. John’s own comment on the photo sums it up perfectly – “Only in Ireland”.

Now, eyes to the front, it’s time for the Gospel.

Is this what i think it is,i passed my church this morning, cars were double parked on double yellow lines, yet nobody ever gets tickets,do the same thing a few hundred yards away in the main street and you will get a ticket no problem,it looks like this is just another case of religion taking priority over the laws of the country.

Did you attend the same Bible school as Mr Kenny. Mr Gilmore, Mr Shatter and Mr Hannigan of Waterford. where Common Sense Logic and Natural Law were thrown out the window with a lot of other useful aids to good government? And any excuse for a change in the Constitution works, except referring a major change to the Constitutional Convention such as abolishing the Senate? Why did all those 1916 men and women did and their successors start a civil war when none of it makes sense since the Troika runs the economy and the Natural Law interferes with laws that have no medical justification.

bad theology Mr Lanigan. The Mass commemorates an innocent Man who was lied about and then crucified so He could conquer death and sin and pain for all of us. That’s what they taught me unless the Catholic Taoiseach changes that one also.

Just because “they” thought it to you doesn’t make it true. Jesus wasn’t the first innocent man to be executed and he certainly wasn’t the last.

If he died to conquer sin, pain and death for all of he he has clearly failed. Mind you he never claimed that. That was a claim by his marketing department.

Anyways, if you think about it (a foreign process to believers) it’s a really silly concept – dying to ‘save’ us from ‘sins’ that we haven’t committed (its not that long ago that eating meat on a Friday was a sin)

Religious belief is a consequence of the unquestioning and uneducated mind

Awful pity you were not taught- or to use your mistyped THOUGHT were not able to bring adult thought to the childhood lessons; The Church is a living organism, so all of us teach and learn as we go and do not complain because last year’s medicine or scientific theories no longer work. Friday meat was a sin if we did it to tell Jesus to butt out, not eating it in and for the heck of it. And lots of other major and minor points that make sense in 2013 while the essential teaching is the same. As to Jesus Death it transcends Time and Space since He was God and Man which means 2013 is the same to Him as was the age of Moses 1200 BC/BCE for atheists and agnostics That is why He went down to the Lower Regions, aka hell which is not the best translation, to ship them home. My reference to His innocence was to the fact that the Bible scholars of His day were jealous . missed the whole point if their Bible study and the Roman procurator who knew he was innocent was scared and sent Him to die anyway. That is how Our Father handles murder, thievery IF we repent and do our best. and beat death, sin and pain. Eating meat on Friday was never a top issue but the important stuff about Loving, Forgiving and being Truthful and Just were. have a good rest of your Life. Mine has not long to go.
