GARDAÍ IN KILLARNEY are appealing for information about the murder of a mother and her eight-year-old daughter in Killorglin, Co Kerry last weekend.
Post-mortem examinations on the bodies of 27-year-old Jolanta Lubiene and her daughter Enrika were completed at Tralee General Hospital this afternoon and preliminary results have found that both died in “violent circumstances”.
To help jog people’s memory, investigating gardaí have issued Jolanta’s last known movements before she and her daughter were killed.
Jolanta was last seen on Langford Street, Killorglin at 1.50pm on Saturday, 15 June walking towards her home at Langford Downs, a 15 minute walk from Killorglin. She was wearing a dark waist length coat, dark trousers and white shoes. She was carrying two bags of shopping, a pink bag and a white bag.
Investigating gardaí are particularly anxious to talk to everyone who was in the Langford Downs housing estate between 12 noon and 7pm on Saturday last. Gardaí in Killarney say: “This is a small housing estate with just over 50 houses and with only one vehicle entrance and exit”.
A technical examination of the scene is continuing and an incident room has been set up at Killarney garda station.

@Sequoia: When I first saw ‘Free Now’ I thought it was something to do with cable TV subscriptions – took a long time to figure out it was a taxi company (if that’s what it is).
This must be a great case study on ‘marketing disasters’ for students of marketing.

@Earth Traveller: You’ll never see it as it is unlikely that a technical fault could predict future taxi journeys to pay drivers before said journeys happened .
@Conall: Sure yesterday someone here was calling for a report of hospital figures for the year. People don’t seem to get it that you can’t have the yearly stats before the end of the year happens.
