THINGS WE LEARNED
#ABORTION: Today TDs have been debating the landmark abortion legislation with Lucinda Creighton expressing her opposition and Taoiseach Enda Kenny insisting it would not ‘open the floodgates’. They are now expected to continue with the debate until 9pm tonight.
#ANGLO TAPES: The latest details from the Anglo Tapes, published by the Irish Independent, shine a spotlight on Allied Irish Bank and Bank of Ireland with top executive John Bowe saying AIB were “lending money to every cowboy in town”.
#SEÁN DUNNE: The High Court has adjourned property developer Seán Dunne’s bankruptcy case for three weeks. Ulster Bank is awaiting the outcome of an appeal on a US court ruling as Dunne has applied for bankruptcy there.
#THE PILL: Six deaths have been linked to oral contraceptives in Ireland, since 1992. Two of the death involved the use of Yasmin and Yaz, brands associated with a number of clotting-related deaths in Canada recently with some 273 seizures of one of the brands here last year alone.
#EGYPT: Armed forces in Egypt have warned President Mohamad Morsi that they will intervene in 48 hours if demands of protesters that he resign are not met. In Tahrir Square, thousands of anti-Morsi protesters erupted in joy after the statement.
#FIRE: At least 19 firefighters have been killed battling a fast-moving wildfire in Arizona in the deadliest incident of its kind in the US in the last 80 years. Meanwhile, in England, over 150 firefighters have been tackling a “very large and dramatic” blaze at a recycling plant.
#QUIZ ME: A 27-year-old Irish woman will represent us in a major game show in Korea. Alana O’Brien will fly to Seoul and live in a dorm with 15 other international contestants, being filmed for an entire week before taking part in the show. She’s looking for your help in choosing a costume that represents Ireland…

@Denis Patrick Gill: The IRA were those men and women who with the support of the majority fought for our Independence in 1919-21. Those that followed after are not nor ever will be patriots. They are Traitors to the Irish people. They have attacked and murdered servants of the Irish State ( Members of the Gardai and a Prison Officer) they have committed multiple crimes against the citizens of the Republic, from Kidnapping for ransom to Armed Robbery, from Drug Dealing to Extortion. No crime is beneath them even rape and paedophilia. Those that followed after the originals, Patriots!! No I don’t believe so, Thugs, Criminals, Murderers would be closer to the truth.

These are not real soldiers, and most certainly not representing the majority of Ireland. I believe in peace and dialogue The men of 1916 must be turning in there grave at the vermin that is trying to associate with them.. they can’t hold a candle to the men who fought in the 1916.
