HSE begins publishing pre-school inspections

The reports for childcare facilities in the Limerick area are now online and HSE will continue on ‘county-by-county’ basis.

THE HEALTH SERVICES Executive has begun publishing it’s inspection reports on pre-schools but so far only one county is available online.

In May, the Children’s Minister Frances Fitzgerald promised that the reports would be uploaded to the HSE website ‘within weeks’ and yesterday the reports for the Limerick area were made available.

The reports are available on the maps section of the non-profit organisation Pobal by clicking on the ‘HSE Reports’ tab at the top of  the map. The reports also contain correspondence between the HSE and the childcare service on any issues arising from inspections.

This sample successful inspection of a childcare service in Raheen in Co. Limerick is an example of the kind of details provided by the reports.

The HSE said that the reports that are currently being made available online are from inspections carried out before July 1st and a spokesperson for the executive said that once the backlog is completed it is envisaged that future newly completed reports will also be published.

The provider’s response to an inspection will be published with the report if it is received within 10 day working days of issue of the report.

The HSE says it will continue to publish the reports county-by-county basis but can not give further details on when each county will be made available.
