THE CALIFORNIA-BASED TV station KTVU was left red-faced and apologetic after it broadcast fake and racist names for the pilots of the Asiana Airlines Flight which crashed in San Francisco last weekend.
Three people are now confirmed to have died in the crash at the city’s international airport with the pilots actions coming under scrutiny.
But those pilots’ names are not “Sum Ting Wong,” “Wi Tu Lo,” “Ho Lee Fuk,” and “Bang Ding Ow” as KTVU, a Fox affiliate, reported:

The station later broadcast a statement apologising for the error but claimed that the names had been confirmed by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), which is investigating the crash.
The NTSB later put out its own statement apologising for the “inaccurate and offensive names that were mistakenly confirmed as those of the pilots of Asiana flight 214″.
The agency blamed a “summer intern” saying that he “acted outside the scope of his authority when he erroneously confirmed the names of the flight crew on the aircraft”.
“Appropriate actions will be taken to ensure that such a serious error is not repeated,” the NTSB added, saying it never releases or confirms the names of crew members or people involved in accidents.
Meanwhile, officials at San Francisco General Hospital have confirmed that a third girl, reportedly Chinese, has died from injuries sustained in the crash. More than 180 people were injured.
In Seoul, Asiana Airlines earlier identified the pilot flying the Boeing 777 that crashed as Lee Kang-Kuk, 46.

“A replacement bus service is in operation”
That’s what Transdev tells you but I just had to bring my partner from Citywest to red cow as there were people standing there for 40 minutes and still no sign of a shuttle bus. The Luas is fantastic WHEN IT WORKS but there’s too many incidents like this where this section of the line is out of order. The shuttle bus service is extremely inadequate and an insult to reliant passengers
Might just be easier to announce the days they won’t have any disruptions. Joke of a service
Luas in break down shocker. Said nobody. Ever.
Replacement bus is a joke. Only brings to red cow. Everyday something wrong with the luas. Worst of it, most stops are middle of nowhere not on a bus route or anywhere near walking distance to a taxi rank. Worst ever!
@Eugene Tyson: Dropped my wife off at Red Cow, there was easily 100 people waiting for a LUAS. Not only are they not running, but they never accounted for the overflow of people coming to Red Cow to get the service.
There’s a bus lane from Citywest, the Katherine Tynan road has one, but there is NO bus service operating it at all.
The stops along the Katherine Tynan road are not accessible to taxis. There isn’t even a bus stop on KT although there’s a bus lane.
Just as well we don’t have an underground service, we can’t get an over ground working properly.

Ha they have security and when I got on a very crowded luas this morning weds from euston station to cc I could see them standing around at the stops not one of them boarded an over crowded luas it’s a laugh the train was worse coming over from castlebar got crowded from tullamore with workers travelling to cc for their days work thank f I dont travel it on a regular basis discover the train is right discover how Irish rail treat people like cattle
