HOLLYWOOD ACTOR CORY Monteith has died.
He was 31 years old.
Police in Vancouver, Canada have confirmed that the Glee star was found dead at a room in the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel just after noon (local time) yesterday.
In a statement issued, acting police chief Doug LePard said Monteith had checked into the downtown hotel on 6 July and was due to leave on Saturday.
“There were others with Monteith in his room earlier last night [Friday], but video and fob key entries show him returning to his room by himself in the early morning hours and we believe he was alone when he died,” he revealed.
“When he missed his check-out time, staff went to the room at noon and found his body.”
It is believed that he may have died of a drug overdose but no cause of death has been confirmed. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday but “all indications are that there was no foul play”, according to officials. An investigation has got underway and all hotel video and room access record have been secured by police.
Speaking about Monteith’s role as the popular Finn on Glee, LePar said:
I want to pass on our condolences to the family, friends, castmates and millions of fans of Mr. Monteith. As was the case in countless homes, I watched Glee regularly with my daughters, and I know there will be shock and sadness in many households with the news of his tragic death.
Struggles
The 31-year-old has been open about his struggle with substance abuse in the past, and he last checked into rehab in April.
In 2011, he told Parade magazine that he was “lucky to be alive” after years of taking “anything and everything”.
He shot to fame in 2009 when Glee became an instant hit with global audiences. He had been dating co-star Lea Michele, and the pair made countless appearances on the red carpet together.

Mike; he most likely died of a cocaine or heroine overdose – nobody asks for these to be legalised. Tarring everything as simply ‘drugs’ defines being ignorant.

Depression is still something that get looked at as weak minded. Sure the guy had talent to burn apparently. It must be awful living a life where knowing that something that could kill ye is the only thing numb your pain. And let’s give the guy some credit he tried on more than one occasion to get sober. Who knows, maybe the producers of glee could use this to make a show in some way as it’s a great platform to address issues like this. All I hope that he is now in peace. Thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family. #RIP
Never heard of him as I don’t follow Glee at all but RIP to him and condolences to his family and friends. Depression is a scourge and adding drugs to it usually results in a tragic end. Goes to show fame and fortune don’t make you happy.

How can u write something so insensitive. The poor lad suffered from depression too, the drugs were used as a vice to numb it. He was probably already on medication for this and maybe as like heath ledger, he took too many or possibly suicide. And there’s kids on this too, so maybe you should watch what you comment!

May he rest in peace. It just shows how depression hits people in all walks of life rich and poor alike. It is a sad fact that many people suffering depression self medicate with illegal drugs because prescribed medication leaves them feeling numb and unable to feel any emotion good or bad. It really is tragic that such a talented youn man has passed this way

I mean, you could write a condolence note. You could actually say words from the heart. You could write a lament.

A bittersweet tragedy. Bitter in that a young person has died tragically. Sweet in that an awful tv show probably won’t get recommissioned for another season. R.I.P. Corey… and hopefully Glee as well.
